Courier startup launches on the WeChat app
Rush platform allows users to compare delivery services and prices in real-time
New courier aggregator, Rush has just launched its new platform which it hopes will change South Africa's courier business.
According to Glenn Whittaker, founder and CEO of Rush South Africa, the startup's value proposition is built on aggregating numerous couriers who can then be chosen based on reputation, price or delivery time.
"Rush is going to fundamentally alter the way the courier business works. We are confident that our service offering will transform the users' courier experience while saving them time and money."
Customers can access the service through WeChat, the free messaging and calling app. Rush for Mobile allows customers to use their mobile phones to choose a courier, book, pay for and track parcel deliveries in real-time.
"At present, Rush is affiliated to five courier companies - Courier Guy, Courier IT, Skynet, RTT and Globeflight – with more to be added in the near future. Rush carefully vets its couriers and has very strict service level agreements in place with them," says Whittaker.
Customers are able, through the app, name their location and where they want to send their parcel. They will then be required to specify the weight and dimensions of their parcel. After which they will be able to choose a courier from the list of delivery services and price options including same day, overnight or budget.
Apart from being able to choose by price, delivery time, speed or courier reputation, explains Whittaker, Rush also provides the option to take insurance on parcels.
He adds that Rush also offers a large-scale service designed for businesses that courier more than 200 parcels per month, known as Rush for Business.
