Wine tourism may double by 2025 due to weak rand

Wine tourism in South Africa has the potential to more than double in the next nine years from R6 billion to R15 billion. This is as the rand continues to decline making the country increasingly attractive to visitors, according to Rico Basson, managing director of Vinpro, which represents 3 600 wine producers and cellars. Technology has and will continue to shape people management and payroll. This is according to Sandra Swanepoel, managing director at Sage. Some of the trends that Swanepoel says South Africa companies can look for is: data driving decision-making, especially in talent analytics, the continued rise of online recruitment, employee engagement – such as filing expense reports, leave applications and changing of personal details to go mobile. She also predicts that because of major legislation changes on the horizon, such as retirement reforms, that there will be an increase regulatory and tax burdens.

Uber rebrands itself

Uber has a new logo, which the company says “reflects a more substantial look as we too have matured as a company.” Uber says it was redesigned so users could identify it from afar.

The black-and-white Uber icon has been replaced with a colorful geometric shape. Uber also wants to give each city a unique look and feel with an initiative the company is calling “Atom.” (Uber)
